APRIL 22 AC Technology Report
2006/07 Use Three Year Implementation Plan

2007/08

2008/09

Current Goals:
Reliability &
Current year refresh cycle and TALL implementation significantly delayed by as much as 8 months. Many new orders delayed by several months. Issues with wireless. In school and after school training sessions, mentoring LwICT continuum and SmartBoard use.

Lead Teacher/mentorship/PD:
Lead teachers beginning to mentor infusing technology in their training session.

IT needs VS Educational Technology priorities:
Focus more on infrastructure than on Educational Technology.

Mission of Educational Technology at LSSD:
  • Provide and support Information and Communication Technologies that develop critical, creative and responsible 21st century learners in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Recommendations:
  • Complete and implement educational strategic plan 2009/10
  • That an authoritative educational leader for educational technology be created/assigned to make decisions, authorize actions and guide/implement the educational strategic plan. This position holds director status and leads infrastructure technology dept and their strategic plan as well as coordinate with Lead Teachers.
  • That resources (time, money, materials and supports) be made available to this body to support forward change and improvements.
  • That LSSD PD focus be LwICT infusion in curriculum. PD Sessions are driven by curriculum needs in science, math, ELA, social studies, music and performance.
  • Focus PD on supports to the teachers. Review the role on the EA techs. Incorporate a peer teaching model.
  • Be aware that Grant funding will be terminated in 209/10 - Division needs to continue resources for future PD.
  • Maximize in-school resources to provide support for educational technology and LwICT.
